Google Analytics

If you’ve been blogging or had a website for any amount of time, then you’ve probably heard about Google Analytics. This is an absolutely fantastic tool that can give you a ton of insight into the performance of your business.

The main stats I look at on a regular basis for Financial Flamingo are my pageviews, sessions, and unique visitors. I also look at the posts and pages that are getting the most views to get an idea of how certain content is doing. There is so so much you can do with Google Analytics and there are a lot of YouTube videos and courses out there that can teach you more.

I love this tool because it’s free to use and once it’s set up, will always continue to track your stats.

Canva

One of my favorite tools that I use almost every single day! Canva is a free online photo and graphic editing software. You can do SO MUCH with this program.

I use Canva to create all my social media and website graphics and all my Pinterest pins. I’ve even used it to create my digital products. It’s really user friendly and it saves all your previously created images in your online account so you can go back and tweak them later.

There is a paid upgraded version of Canva that gives you access to more tools, but honestly, the free version is plenty for the majority of creating. I highly recommend this program!

ConvertKit

ConvertKit is an email automation software that can be used to set up welcome sequences and deliver freebies to your subscribers. I have been using ConvertKit for about 9 months now and absolutely love it.

Building your email list is one of the most important parts of running an online business. I use ConvertKit to grow my list by setting up email sequences, landing pages and forms, and creating automations to segment and tag my subscribers. There is so much this platform can do. It’s also optimized to make sure your emails don’t hit spam filters!

This is a paid tool based on the number of subscribers you have on your list. I think it’s very worth it to pay for your email list since it is so important to your business. Not only will paying for your email service help you take it seriously, but ConvertKit also provides tools that I haven’t found in other free email services.

ConvertKit is probably hands down my favorite tool I use in my business because I spend so much time on my email list.

The Legal Bundle

While this isn’t an actual tool I use, this is something that is hugely important for your business. Do you know if your blog is legal?

There are three legal pages that are required to be on every single blog. And they have to include certain language to be legit! I am not a lawyer and have no legal experience whatsoever, so I needed to find someone to do these pages for me. I decided to go with The Legal Bundle from Amira Law.

Why did I choose this bundle? Well, first off, it included the required pages with all the required language! It was the top solution to what I needed to launch my site. Second, it was created by a real lawyer! Amira is a lawyer and a blogger herself, so she knows exactly what needs to be included.

Yes, this bundle is an investment – but it still costs significantly less than a lawsuit would! Get your own Legal Bundle from Amira law!

Tailwind

I have a secret when it comes to my business… I hate planning Pinterest pins! I’m not sure why – it’s just really not something I personally enjoy. However, Tailwind makes this process so much easier!

Tailwind is a software that you link to your Pinterest account. You can schedule out pins into the future, set when they’re going to post to what board, and even set up content to repost at regular intervals. It’s pretty powerful and makes it way easier to stick with your Pinterest strategy.

Being able to schedule a week’s worth of Pinterest content at a time makes it so much easier to grow my traffic. I don’t think I could really take advantage of all the benefits of Pinterest without Tailwind!

Business Planner

I’m not really sure where I’d be without my business planner. I use a literal pen and paper planner to keep up with the majority of planning for my business – from my content calendar, to planning videos, to scheduling emails. Without some sort of business planning system I would be totally lost.

I am currently using the Erin Condren On The Go Folio system for my business planner. It’s fantastic because it’s a traveler’s notebook style. This means you can customize the four books that are held inside the folio. I currently have a daily planner, monthly calendar, content checklist, and notebook included in mine. Check out the video below to see exactly how I’m using my planner to keep everything under control for Financial Flamingo!

Hootsuite

Hootsuite is the software I’m using to manage all my social media posts. It’s a great scheduling software that lets you import and write all out your posts for Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. I like to schedule out my posts for a week at a time to stay authentic and make sure my content is relevant.

While Hootsuite is also a paid service, I think it’s worth it to be able to plan out a cohesive social media plan across all of my platforms. I can get all my content scheduled for the week, and then spend the rest of my time creating for other platforms. I don’t have to feel rushed every day to post something, which enables me to spend more time creating valuable content instead! I tend to get sucked into social media so it’s nice to only have to worry about engaging with my audience on a daily basis instead of creating actual content.

QuickBooks Online

As a CPA, I’m pretty numbers driven. So when I started bringing in income from my business I knew I was going to need a great system to track it all. After testing a few programs, I decided to go with QuickBooks online!

QuickBooks Online (QBO) is a cloud-based accounting and bookkeeping software. It helps you track your income and expenses and account for them the correct way. Using QBO makes it easy to create financial statements for your business and helps you understand where your business stands. It is also really helpful during tax time to have all your information in one place and ready to go!

The one thing I do want to mention about this software is that there is a learning curve. If you know absolutely nothing about accounting, it’s worth watching some YouTube videos and doing some Googling to get yourself familiar with the basics. Even with using a bookkeeping software (ANY software) you really do need to understand the fundamentals to understand what the numbers mean for your business. Understanding finances is part of being a business owner.

I log into my QBO at least once a week to keep up with recording all my expenses. But other than that, there isn’t a whole lot else I need to do other than keep my business receipts! I think QuickBooks Online is totally worth the money.

I am so glad I’ve been able to find ways to make my everyday business duties a little bit easier. These tools will help you stay organized and take your business to the next level.
