Financial Flamingo started out as a hobby to help me stay accountable when I first began paying off my debt. I was struggling to consistently stick to my budget and had student loans, a car loan, and a credit card with a steadily increasing balance.
I felt like I was constantly struggling to stick to the budget I took so much time to make. Stress about not doing things “right” with my money would creep up on me whenever I bought something I wanted but didn’t need. I often thought to myself that I made too much money (and worked too hard for that money!) to constantly feel like I never had enough.
On top of that – I’m an accountant! I’m a full-blown Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and I deal with money and budgets for companies allllll day long. I’m great at keeping other people on budget – why the heck couldn’t I keep myself on one consistently?
Eventually, I got totally fed up with constantly feeling stress, shame, and guilt about not managing my money better. When I finally hit my breaking point and started learning everything I could about cleaning up my finances, I realized that a TON of other women are having the same exact issues and thinking the same exact thoughts.
Now I’m sharing the lessons, tips, tricks, and financial knowledge I’ve gained while working to drastically improve how I manage my money!
The biggest lesson I’ve learned: you have to find the money management methods that work for you and your lifestyle. The best way to find what’s right for you is to try things to see if they stick.

I’ll be the first to tell you… I still don’t stick to my budget perfectly every single paycheck, I still occasionally fall back into credit card swiping, and I haven’t paid off all my debt (yet!).
Here’s the cliche for this page: personal finances are super personal. Literally, no person on the earth is 100% perfect with their financial plan 100% of the time. And if they say they are… I will probably call bs on that. Goals change and situations change.
To date, I’ve paid off over $6,000 of student loans and two store credit cards – with lots more to go! I’ve finally found a budget method and financial plan that works for me and finally have the peace of mind that comes with having savings in the bank.
My goal here at FinancialFlamingo.com is to help you ditch the shame and worry around managing your money by sharing what’s working for me, gathering (and sometimes creating!) the best resources, and providing you with in-depth guides on the financial concepts you need to know.
